It’s a Life Style
Eating the right food and exercising to stay healthy is a life style. It took me years to finally figure it out, but it’s better than never. It takes hard work and dedication to have a healthy life style. Now, I will be the first to tell you that sometimes you need that cheat day. Just don’t overdo it, but if you do don’t beat yourself up. Get up the next day and get back to it! Having a plan helps you and being self aware of the foods that you know that if they are in your house you will eat them. Don’t buy those foods! Chips is a trigger food for me. Guess what I don’t buy them anymore. It’s important to find alternatives when you crave a food high in carbohydrates.
Yesterday, I wanted french fries really bad. I begin to google alternative to French fries that are keto friendly. I found a recipe for turnip fries. The funny thing is that on last Saturday, I bought 2 large turnips. I guess subconsciously my mind knew I could do something interesting with those turnips. I will put the recipe below. I made them to eat with my meal prep dinner which was a grilled hamburger patty with a small garden salad. Those turnip fries were delicious. My kids even liked them. You’re winning when the kids give you a thumbs up. It’s been a good week to date for diet and exercise. How is it going for you? You got this! Let’s go!
Crispy Turnip Fries
3 pounds turnips
1 tablespoon olive oil
⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon onion powder
Step 1 Peel the turnips, and cut into French fry-sized sticks, about 1/3 by 4 inches. Place into a large bowl, and toss with the vegetable oil to coat. Place the Parmesan cheese, garlic salt, paprika, onion powder in a resealable plastic bag, and shake to mix. Place the oiled turnips into the bag, and shake until evenly coated with the spices.
Step 2 Spray your air fryer with olive oil spray or canola oil spray to prevent sticking. Spread fries out evenly in the air fryer in one layer.
Step 3 Set the air fryer on 400 degrees and set time for 12 minutes.
Step 4 Close and start air fryer. After 12 minutes, the outside should be crispy, and the inside tender. Serve immediately. (Taste really good by themselves or with a serving of ranch dressing or yum yum sauce)
